For over 165 years, St. John's Anglican Primary School has shaped generations of Lagosians with a nurturing, values-driven education.
From a church-yard shed to a Lagos Island landmark
St. John's was founded in 1857 in a small shed within the church grounds. That shed gave way to a T-shaped building in 1870, later converted into a three-storey building completed on 28th September 1954 and commissioned by Hon. Ike Nwachukwu, the then Federal Minister for Education.
On 11th October 1954, staff and pupils moved into the new building, and the school has remained on the same historic site ever since. Many prominent Nigerians are proud products of St. John's.
